I asked him what he was planning on doing with Zevran and he was all 'Oh la la moi affairs, zey are private, oui?' so I told him that if he hurt Zevran I would kill him slowly and no one would ever find the body and no one would ever suspect me because I'm small and adorable.
I'm not allowed to give him trouble because I respect Zevran's choices and all of that, but I think that would be—funny. A funny joke for notre ami Michel de Chevin, who we like and trust very much.
[ Beleth never promised to respect Zevran's choices. ]
He called Zevran an entanglement, and when I pointed out to him that there was enough troubling historical precedent to this for people to be quite justified in being concerned he just looked at me with this smug look and said 'Ah, you must not know Zevran, did you know he is an assassin, and he's killed innocent people for money?' which was irrelevant and belittling.
[ He's quiet for a stretch, because he's doing that thing people do where they're so helplessly angry and resignedly miserable that it hurts like a bruise to move. But he recovers! Because human (& elven &c.) resilience both physical and mental is very remarkable that way. ]
The nerve, [ re lute. ] I think that's worth another mouse.
...I'm sorry, Alistair. But...don't worry, okay? Zevran has many friends, and all of us, we'll keep him safe. I promise. Michel is nothing to waste your time with. I was just...ranting, angrily.
And you're a hundred times better than he is, anyway. I did the math.
Well, I mean--If I stayed with you, it would be my space, too, right? Just yours, as well. I don't mind sharing with you, I just want to be able to...call a place mine. To be able to put up some of the things my brother sent me, and have a space where people I don't even know can't just barge in.

I don't think he took me seriously.
Maybe I should put a dead mouse in his food.

Also, he implied that I wasn't good at the lute.

[ But not going to dwell la la la, this is a happy occasion. ]
You don't have to stay with me if you want your own space. I didn't think about that. We could be neighbors and talk through the tent walls.

You're allowed to barge in, though.

[ Human thing. ]
In that case, please come live with me. I'm so lonely. I'll scratch your name into the ice outside the flaps and everything.
