I don't think you can ever make it stop working, or anything, and it isn't meant to hurt. I don't know what it feels like to have magic so I can't say what it feels like to suddenly not have any, obviously, but I've heard it's like being suddenly blindfolded, or deafened, or something. The trick would be not letting it throw you off, and being ready to keep fighting without magic while you wait out their ability to keep you cut off. So it would probably be best to do it sparring, don't you think? So you're multitasking and you can't see it coming.

I may be a sorcerer, but I fight in melee more often than I fight at range. I have a little training in melee combat, and even if I didn't, I can't help myself. I want to be where the action is. If an enemy templar tried to Silence me when I was in the thick of things, I'd be a sitting duck.
